Does the site save your journey?

The site has no visitor accounts. It does not maintain a personal route-history database containing submitted origins, stops and destinations. A normalized route result may be cached briefly to avoid duplicating a calculation; the cache is designed not to retain the original place text or full service response.

Route and suggestion processing

Route places are sent to the configured geocoding and routing services only when needed to answer the visitor’s request. Local city suggestions are used first where available. Address text may be sent through the site to Geoapify when local matching does not answer the query.

Opening a Google Maps or Apple Maps continuation sends the chosen route information to that service under its own terms.

Calculator and shared-link values

Calculator links may contain distance, consumption, price, currency and trip assumptions. They do not include route place names. These links can be copied or bookmarked, so visitors should avoid values they consider sensitive.

Technical logs and security

Hosting and delivery systems may process IP addresses, request times, browser details, referring page, requested URL and security signals to serve pages and investigate abuse. Cloudflare provides content delivery and security protection; security challenges may set necessary cookies. Retention depends on the hosting and security settings in effect; contact the operator for the applicable periods.

Map location and elevation tools

When you search a place, the search text is sent through this site to Geoapify to locate it. When you click the map, enter coordinates or explicitly choose to use your browser location, the selected coordinates are sent through this site to Geoapify for a nearby place label and approximate terrain elevation. This site does not automatically request your browser location or maintain a personal location-history database. Browser permission can be denied or withdrawn in browser settings.

Satellite map

The satellite-map page embeds Google Maps. Loading the embedded map and using its search or map controls connects your browser directly to Google, which may process requests, identifiers and cookies under its own terms and privacy policy.

Interactive road map

The route diagram does not need map tiles. Where a route has usable geometry, the road map loads tiles through this site; the map provider receives the requested tile coordinates and this site’s server request, not a direct map-tile request from your browser. The page also uses a locally hosted map library.

Google Analytics measurement

Google Analytics 4 measures visits to published, query-free pages so the operator can understand which tools and information visitors use. The site sends a fixed page path rather than route places or calculator inputs, and does not send a saved journey or account identifier. Google may receive technical request data and consent signals. Analytics storage is denied by default; where the consent message applies, its choices are passed to Google through the consent framework.

Google AdSense advertising

DrivingDirections.net uses Google AdSense to display advertising on eligible pages. Google and participating advertising partners may receive IP address, device and browser information, the page viewed, ad interactions and consent signals; they may use cookies or similar storage for ad delivery, frequency control, fraud prevention, reporting and, where permitted, personalisation.

Google uses advertising cookies to serve ads based on visits to this and other sites. Visitors can control personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings. Where consent is required, advertising storage and personalisation remain blocked until the visitor makes a choice through the consent interface.

Retention, recipients and transfers

Normalized route results may be cached briefly; city-distance results may be cached for up to 24 hours without the submitted place names. Hosting, delivery, geocoding and routing providers may process limited technical or request data in other jurisdictions under their own terms and applicable safeguards. Production log retention and any transfer arrangement must be checked against the final deployment.

Your rights

Depending on UK GDPR, EU GDPR or another applicable law, a person may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or objection and may complain to the competent supervisory authority. Because the service has no accounts and minimal application data, it may not be possible to identify an individual from a request.

How can this policy change?

This policy is updated when processing, providers or legal requirements change. Material changes to advertising or consent handling are reflected here and in the cookie policy.
