Town and city autocomplete and the city-distance calculator use a private licensed city dataset transformed into a local search index. Coordinates are used for matching, road-route requests and air-line comparison but are not published through the suggestion endpoint.
Geocoding and address suggestions
When local matching is insufficient and the service is configured, submitted address text may be resolved by Geoapify. The coordinate finder sends an explicit place search or selected coordinates through this site for a nearby address label. Returned labels help the visitor confirm the selected place; they are not a declaration of official address status.
Terrain elevation
The elevation finder requests a terrain value for the selected coordinate from Geoapify and displays it in metres and feet. This is approximate ground elevation, not a GPS reading, building height or complete route ascent.
Road-route calculations
On-demand routes use Geoapify or openrouteservice when configured and available; city-to-city road distance uses openrouteservice. Distance, duration, geometry, elevation and manoeuvres originate from the service that returned the result and are formatted here. The service attribution appears beside the calculation, not only on this page.
Base maps and OpenStreetMap
A site-generated route diagram remains available without map tiles. For routes with usable geometry, the interactive road map uses OpenStreetMap-derived tiles from the configured map provider, delivered through this site. OpenStreetMap attribution remains visible on the map.
Satellite imagery
The separate satellite-map tool embeds Google Maps and uses Google satellite imagery under Google’s terms. OpenStreetMap supplies road-map data here, not satellite imagery. Satellite imagery is geographic context, not evidence of current traffic, closures or road access.
Google Maps and Apple Maps
These services are optional continuations opened after planning. Each recalculates or displays the journey under its own data, terms and privacy practices. DrivingDirections.net does not receive or control the map database behind those services.
Provider differences
Providers can return different roads, distances or times because of coverage, map versions, profiles, restrictions and traffic assumptions. A comparison is context, not proof that one provider is universally correct.
Corrections and reuse
Errors in this site’s labels, calculations or attribution may be reported through the corrections process. Errors in underlying third-party data may also require a report to the named provider. Reuse remains governed by the applicable source licence and the site terms.
